This site is...
a website created by Mrs. Turowski during her 7th grade US history placement.
It was created during my student teaching placement from March to May 2020 and was meant to help parents, teachers, and students outside of my student teaching placement school district (google classroom and packets were used in the school district) to access quality 7th grade US history content during COVID-19.
I have decided to leave this site up as it still receives 50+ visitors each day.
Please click on the drop down menus above to access content.
Lessons: I prepared lessons aligned to the New York State Social Studies Framework and Common Core that were short but meaningful. For each lesson I included a brief lesson plan that can be downloaded to help guide the lesson. The lesson have all the materials necessary in one document, except videos, which will appear on this website. These lessons have suggested modifications and accommodations for students at different levels of readiness. Follow on Twitter to be updated when new lessons are uploaded.

Note: I have screened all the content and everything I post is age appropriate for the average 7th grade student. However, I encourage you to review all materials and exercise your own judgment before showing them to your child.
Important Moments in History
American history is longer, larger, more various, more beautiful, and more terrible than anything anyone has ever said about it.
James Baldwin
People make history and not the other way around. In periods where there is no leadership, society stands still. Progress occurs when courageous, skillful leaders seize the opportunity to change things for the better.
Harry S. Truman
Neither a wise man nor a brave man lies down on the tracks of history to wait for the train of the future to run over him.
Dwight D. Eisenhower
I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend.
Thomas Jefferson
Our flag honors those who have fought to protect it, and is a reminder of the sacrifice of our nation's founders and heroes. As the ultimate icon of America's storied history, the Stars and Stripes represents the very best of this nation.
Joe Barton
What is history? An echo of the past in the future; a reflex from the future on the past.
Victor Hugo
